About the event

Are you eager to enhance your skills and make a meaningful impact in the community? We invite you to attend our upcoming Beginners Box Braid Course, where you'll learn protective hair training from experts over the course of 12 weeks. This hands-on, practical training is tailored for individuals who are unemployed or seeking volunteer opportunities with our social enterprise and have the righ to work in the UK. By participating, you'll not only contribute to uplifting the community but also acquire valuable skills, such as protective styling, in demand within our community. Seize this opportunity to elevate your skills, explore new career possibilities, and embark on an exciting new path.

To be an ideal candidate for this program, you should have Afro hair yourself, have a family member with Afro hair, or have a vested interest or experience in the lack of local professional hair care services. We believe that your vested interest will keep you motivated to bring about real change in the community. As this is a community project, you must be committed to the 12-week program, dedicating 10 hours per week to salon training and an additional 6 hours at home. You should also be willing to fully engage with all aspects of the program.

To secure a spot in this program, you must commit to 12 weeks and a total of 16 hours of learning between the salon and at home. This includes a minimum of 10 hours per week in the salon, where you will enhance your speed and service models. Basic ICT skills are required to use the salon diary, and training will be provided along with self-study materials. Additionally, having a positive attitude, a growth mindset, and the belief that you can succeed in anything you put your mind to are essential.

By completing this program, you will gain valuable practical skills that can be utilised anywhere in the world. You will be able to offer affordable luxury services to an overlooked niche market and make a positive impact on your own community. Upon completion, you will receive a certificate that allows you to obtain insurance and begin working independently. Throughout the program, you will have the support of a dedicated team, a strong professional network, and established processes to help you achieve your goals. Opportunities to work with amazing clients and grow your own client base will be provided, and discounted chair rental within the salon will also be available.

1. Salon Code of Conduct, Mission, and Objectives: Familiarize yourself with our salon's code of conduct, mission, and objectives. These can be found on our website under Team Dream Big.

2. Your Role in Team Dream Big: Understand how you fit into Team Dream Big and the potential earning opportunities after completing the program. There are plenty of possibilities to keep you engaged and motivated.

3. Customer Service and ICT Skills: Learn about the importance we place on customer service, self-value, and the value we assign to our services and space. Commitment to the 12-week program and personal responsibility are crucial to ensure practice and module completion. Maintain an attendance rate of over 95% and demonstrate commitment throughout.

4. Mindset and Attitude: Embrace a mindset of continuous learning, always being open to acquiring new knowledge and refining existing skills. Remember that learning is a lifelong journey, and your willingness to adapt and grow will contribute to your success.
